From Al Caldwell;
"In 1983 when I moved to New York. There were several
luthiers trying to gain the attention of Anthony
Jackson. At the time he's was having a very expensive
version of his dream bass built Ken Smith. Ken Parker
was also a friend of Anthony Jackson and a cutting
edge builder to say the least. He combinded
structure, cable truss rods, and light weight woods to
make very light(4Lbs) but solid sounding instruments. Ken
knew that Anthony was only interested in a six string
bass. That was very daring in 1983. He lived with his
Uncle at the time and had a wonderful shop in the
basement. He would take wood from the backyard and
make instruments. He made a 5 string for Steve Swallow
and a Six for Anthony Jackson. Anthony choose to stay
with Ken and I endd up with the ONLY six string bass
ever made by Ken Parker. I've had it with me for 21
years. It's been around the world 3 times and has been
on countless recordings.(Some to be released in the
states.) It has a cable truss rod(the first time i've
ever heard of that concept)It still sings. I'm using
only Benavente and Lowend Basses now. I hope this rare
piece can find a home. Whoever ends up with this
heartfelt bass , I will send you some of the music it
created. Thank You"
